IJ Start Canon TS3300

IJ Start Canon TS3300– The Canon Pixma TS3300 is a basic, no-frills all-in-one inkjet printer. This passage-level model offers printing, scanning, and copying. The TS3300 keeps tasks basic, utilizing just two ink cartridges (dark and tricolor) rather than individual cartridges. You won’t observe the extravagant increases you’ll find in the best printers. For instance, there is no second input tray for photo paper, an automatic document feeder (ADF) for multi-page copying, or a duplexer for making two-sided prints.

You can connect to the TS3300 wirelessly, or via the USB port. The printer is compatible with mobile devices using the company’s Android/iOS app, although I couldn’t get the iPhone 7 to work (more on that later).

Canon Pixma TS3300 Design

The Pixma TS3300 control panel is at the top of the device body, to the left of the scanning bed. There are several physical buttons: Two of them each initiate a wireless connection to the network or smartphone. Two additional buttons appear – on a small liquid-crystal-display (LCD) screen – either the settings menu or status information. The tiny 1.5-inch monochrome display lacks light and may be difficult to read in a dimly lit room. Apart from the simple Copy function, you will most likely want to operate the TS3300 from a PC, and not stand alone.

Paper is loaded in the 60-sheet paper tray on the back of the unit. The tray also holds up to 20 sheets of 4 by 6-inch photo paper or 10 sheets of 5 by 7-inch photo paper. You must use glossy photo paper; the printer does not support matte paper, although it works with the more exotic, re-attachable magnetic types.

The output tray pulls out from the front of the printer, under a large recess in the body. To swap ink cartridges, you reach inside this cavity and fold the cover to open the ink cartridge bay.

The TS3300 is neither compact nor too big for an all-in-one inkjet. With the paper plate withdrew, it measures 17.2 creeps by 12.5 inches down; 5.8 inches tall. With the plate broadened, the TS3300 is 21.8 inches tall and 8.4 inches tall. Coming up short on a duplexer and ADF, this unit is very light, tipping the scales at eight and a half pounds.

Canon Pixma TS3300 Print speed

The TS3300 printed our five-page text document in 43.7 seconds (or 6.9 pages per minute [ppm]). This is significantly slower than the category average of 33.5 seconds, or 9 ppm. The device is extremely slow at printing in color, converting one of the slowest times to date on our six-page PDF of mixed text and color graphics: the TS3300 required 4 minutes (1.5 ppm) to print the report. Equivalent models print similar PDF at almost double the speed, taking a normal of 2 minutes and 7 seconds, or 2.8 ppm.

The TS3300 couldn’t complete our photo printing speed test, so we printed a full page on letter-sized photo paper (more on that later). So, I made a 4-by-6-inch print of the photo, for comparison.

The TS3300 creates a glossy 4-by-6-inch print in 2 minutes and 1 second. In correlation, a large portion of the models we tried was quicker, albeit some were slow. Among the faster models are the Canon Pixma MG3620, which scored a 4-by-6 in only 43 seconds, and the HP Tango X, at brief 15 seconds. In any case, we’ve seen all the more sluggish printing, for instance, the now-stopped Epson XP-420, which expected just about 3 minutes to completely finish a comparable work.

Copy and scan speed

Color copying is slow. The TS3300 is the second-slowest color-copying inkjet model we’ve tested in this category. At 47 seconds, it is well behind the 27.8-second average. Only HP Tango X is slower, at 1 minute 11 seconds.

The TS3300 renders a color scan of 600 dots per inch (dpi) to the JPEG format at an average speed. At 1 minute and 1.7 seconds, he was well below his average of 1 minute and 7.7 seconds. In comparison, the Editor’s Choice Canon TS9120 performs the same scan in just 37.8 seconds.

The printer examines rapidly in high contrast to PDF at 300 dpi. It caught the output in 7.5 seconds, contrasted with a normal of 11 seconds; The TS9120 is comparably quick, at 7.7 seconds.

The TS3300 keeps tasks straightforward, utilizing just two ink cartridges (dark and tricolor) rather than individual cartridges. You won’t find the fancy additions you’ll see in the best printers.
