Canon PIXMA TS6151 Drivers Download– The Canon Pixma TS6151 is aimed at home users with a creative inflection. A monument to polished black plastic, its appearance may be a matter of taste, but its squat position and clear panels both the appeal control is via a 7.5 cm colour touchscreen. Despite its size, the TS6151 contains two paper trays: one closed at the bottom and a backing for plain or photo paper. There is also automatic duplex printing and support for wireless networks.

Expensive black prints aside, there’s plenty to love about the Pixma TS6151. It produced our 25-page text tests at 12ppm-typically for the Pixma series, printing was not faster-and color graphics of 3.9 ppm. It’s more impressive when you print photos that only need 70 seconds for each edge line of 6 x 4in in highest quality. Photocopies were fast enough for 13 seconds in black or 23 seconds in color.

Tested over Wi-Fi, the scans were also pretty fast, with previews complete in seven seconds and a 300 dpi A4 scan that only needed 19 seconds. Things are lowered at higher resolutions, with a photo scan that takes 31 seconds at 600dpi and about half a minute at 1,200 dpi. Both times are still competitive for a home device.

Where TS6151 really delivers is in the quality of its performance. Despite a maximum resolution of 1,200 x 2,400 dpi, scanned images were about as good as you get from an MFP that displays excellent color accuracy and sharp focus. Dynamic range was very high, with the scanner able to differentiate between all shades in our scan targets allows. Plain paper printing was also great, with dark black text-pretty sharp by inkjet standards-and punchy color graphics. The shadow control was excellent, with smooth progress in our presentation slide backgrounds, and we couldn’t do any grain with the naked eye.

The printer was also fine on photo paper and delivered natural looks with crisp details. For some judges, their tone was warm, and the skin tones were slightly washed, but the colours were generally accurate and controlled. Our black-and-white test print didn’t quite have the sizzling contrast we see in dedicated photo-writingers, but it was otherwise good and free from any color casting.

There were a few weaker areas. At 2.3 images per minute (IPM) were duplex printing on the slow side, and at the default settings they were weaker than the same pages that were only printed on one side-you could fine-tune this if you don’t mind waiting any longer. Surprisingly, given the strong printing and scanning, color photocopies were also a touch killing.

While we are whinging, this MFP has a few other irritations. Once you have stroked the back box, remember to close the dust cover, but it is so small that it is easily overlooked. The scanner cover opens with a recessed handle in the front band: Take it in other places, and you will always lift the entire scanner bed as you would when replacing the ink tank. When finished, it is released with a mod-intuitive lift, after which it flows down again-pushing it down resulting in a disturbing flap.

Canon doesn’t seem to have restrained touchscreen printer controls yet, but it’s one of the company’s best efforts. While drag motion is not supported, the TS6151’s menu system is intuitive and the screen responds consistently.

All in all, this is a smart MFP. Compact and quiet, it’s easy to live with, and offers a good all-round performance with few rough edges. It is easy to recommend, then, but users with high volume should take care of its relatively high ink costs.
